a grand day out
Spent the day in Montezuma ( National Wildlife Reserve). While there were not a lot of birds about ( except for the ever-present redwing blackbirds and song sparrows), there were a few interesting birds about. I did see some yellow warblers, a willow flycatcher and a tern, but the wow of the day was the flyover by the sandhill cranes. This is only the second time I have seen them and both times were this year. It is a terrible photo , or it would have been the main page , but the sky was dead gray and they were not very close.( Not to mention flying away at an angle.)
The main photo is a muskrat which was a surprise carrying off lunch .
Another extra is a green heron , simply because i really like green herons.
