Japanese Quince.

Chaenomeles comes out as charm omelette on spellcheck!! Well it's quite a charming shrub I suppose..! This one is 'Crimson and gold' Chaenomeles x superba which has a spellcheck name of super bad! If spellcheck had been around when Latin names were being considered they would have been a lot easier to remember!
Whether this summer will be warm enough to produce the quince fruits or not remains to be seen. Fruit can be stewed like you would rhubarb.
Horticultural lesson aside, it has pretty red flowers!!
