We left our friends near Bude in the morning, and headed to Newquay to see the zoo and to catch up with another friend (a friendship initially formed over the counter at The Roastery north of Clapham Common).
The zoo was fantastic, and it was a particular treat to see the baby squirrel monkeys, red pandas grooming and grazing, black-necked swans with cygnets, and various tropical birds up close in appealing walk-through aviaries.
