Well Deserved Desserts
Staying in a BnB in the teeniest of Medieval Borgo’s (Arpino)….on the tippy top of a mountain…incredible views of valley below and surrounding mountains….the borgo boasts two churches, plus the house where Tomas Aquinas was born, but not a single store or restaurant. To eat, one must walk down to the bottom of the hill to the new part of town. However, the only non-pizzeria restaurant is closed on Mondays. It is Monday and we don’t want pizza AGAIN! But the highly rated Pasticceria is open NOW. Dessert before dinner? Why not? We each get one of those delectable treats in the photo, plus spremuta d’arancia (fresh squeezed OJ) for the healthy part of the meal. (FYI: I ventured out of my comfort zone and did NOT get the Sicilian Cannolo that I love). At the frutta-vendolo we get stuff for a light dinner: tomatoes & mozzarella for Caprese insalata, a slice of porchetta, one bread roll, and a bottle of Nastro Azzurro (birra Italiana) to share.
