Queens Jubilee 1977

Yes I know I’m cheating a bit because this photo was taken years before blipfoto was even dreamed of.   I can take the credit for actually taking the image though and it was one of the highlights of my life.  I had arrived in the UK to play squash and soon found myself caught up in the excitement of the celebrations for the Queen’s 25th year on the throne.  It’s a very long story as to how I scored a front row seat (well standing) on the Strand near Temple Bar but luck was on my side that day.  This was the first time the Gold Coach had been on the streets since her Coronation and there was great excitement.  No one could have envisaged I’m sure that we would be celebrating her 70th Jubilee over the weekend.  I wonder if anyone has done a head count of the Prime Ministers of the Commonwealth and Presidents of the USA and other world leaders that the Queen has hosted during her reign and she has outlived most of them.  What an amazing women.
PS - When my Dad showed my photo to his mates in Kodak in Perth they developed a huge copy of it and put it their shop window in the Main Street.
