Not On the Guest List
My young crow was back on the patio again today and looked intent on coming in to join my school friend and me for coffee. Later on, he put on a display of what looked liked attention seeking as he stood on the garden bench and flapped his wings when a parent dropped by to check on him. He was rewarded with a beakful of something before the adult flew off. He doesn’t seem to look for food himself.
Last night I was rewarded with the knowledge that my linked smoke alarms do work in tandem when a forgotten slice of toast decided to burn into a cinder in the toaster filling the kitchen and hall with smoke. 3 screeching smoke alarms all going off together certainly could have wakened the dead. This toaster does not have an automatic pop up feature, which is the problem if there are other things happening at the same time. Much towel flapping and an open window and the noise eventually stopped.
