govan drydock

recent hopeful news on television is that there is a possibility for reinstating this drydock in Glasgow which has been derelict for over 30 years....the city once famous for its shipbuilding and marine engineering has no working drydock , the nearest being 20 miles down the River Clyde in Greenock....
Seen here is PS Waverley in the dock in 1977 undergoing hull repairs...behind  left is the Finnieston Titan crane still an imposing city sight today and beloved by fundraising zipsliders...to the right upriver are the giant unloading cranes of General Terminus Quay where iron ore was unloaded from bulkers from across the world to to feed the furnaces at the  Ravenscraig steel works and rolling mills from 1957 to closure in 1992
