Summer Days

Yesterday evening we drove up the winding mountain road to Exogi (Ithaca) which I'm told was voted in the top 10 most beautiful places on Earth by National Geographic magazine. The drive is not for the feint hearted as it has a sheer drop so no room for driver error! We got to the mast and old monastery, which is the highest point on Ithaca, as the sun was setting and the extra shows Mrs BB matching it's beauty!

We got back down the road into Exogi and enjoyed ninety minutes at the Extraterrestial Bar run by Ioannis (John) who's just bought it with his mum. It's the only business in Exogi and is so quaint with stunning views over Ithaca and the Ionian sea. We are returning tonight for a meal cooked by John's mum.

Most of today has been spent at Agios Ioannis beach, said by many to be the most beautiful on Ithaca. The main photo' is ideal for this weeks W-I-D-E on Wednesday Challenge (hosted by Steveng) of "long summer or winter days".
