Mayfly (Ephemera vulgata)

I had the afternoon to myself and the weather was calm and sunny. So what else is a photographer to do but head out in search of bugs and insects......

I didn't have to go far before I noticed this mayfly hanging onto a slender grass stem. Even the hint of a breeze made this a difficult subject to get a sharp image of. I was quite excited to see it as you don't often see them near the lake at Trentham Gardens. The River Trent is nearby but not close enough to notice any mayflies.

There were a few damsels around too but the warm weather made them very flighty.
