Panj Anritdhari
Up at a terrible early hour to do our birdwalk; a transect of a 1km square from Easter Road to Pilrig Cemetery counting every bird we saw or heard. Hardly any migrants had arrived, nd the local birds seemed to be quite scarce as well, It's been a hard winter and a late spring.
Later on, we wambled up to the local Gurdwara to watch the start of the annual Vaisakhi celebration...all the local Sikhs process around the streets of their hometown, celebrating the birthday of their last human guru...very colourful and friendly.
I think these 5 swordbearers represent...something, not sure... the woman is scattering holy water and wearing a fine Leith combination of sari punjabi suit/shalwar khameez and cardigan :)
Loads of kids were having a good time and being stuffed full of sweets and corn-based snacks.
Bedtime now, I've been up since 5...
