Lizzie, We Have To Talk
Has any conversation ever turned out well that started with that line?
Lizzie and I are going to be moving from Washington State to Indiana, 2,333 miles away from where we live now. I hesitate to tell her that I think we'll be flying since she has never been pleased with the 30 minute car ride to the vet.
There are a multitude of problems attached to such an event and my family and I are just beginning to sort them out. I can't imagine living any other place than the Pacific Northwest but I'm being priced right out of the area. Rents, including mine, just keep going up and it's probably not going to get much better any time soon.
My priority at the moment is figuring out how to get Lizzie to Indiana with the least amount of trauma. I don't feel comfortable about her flying but driving will take longer and may be even more difficult for her. So far, I'm not dealing with the anxiety of it all very well. I have to consider the move a permanent one since the cost of moving there is high enough to make it a one-way trip.
I have family in Indiana; my dear Rob, his sister Laurie and good friends as well, but I'll be leaving my daughter behind, my grandson and his wife, and my best friends Rhonda and Blipper Mary Jo, all adding to the anxiety of the whole thing.
Indiana has monumental thunderstorms, which I love, humidity, which I don't, and the state bird is my favorite, the Cardinal.
I think my family would like to see me settled by fall this year so the wheels are rolling. As plans progress, I'll post updates. If there's a Blipper out there with advice on how to travel with a cranky cat, I'd welcome the input.
Wish me luck.
