The River Lea
Back in Ware Hertfordshire for a wedding in a town I lived in for 30 years, the river Lea starts just before the Hertford the County town of Hertfordshire and runs al the way through to the River Thames.
During the Great Plague of London the bargemen would take produce into London and bring bodies out for burial which happened mainly in Hertford in an area now known as "Buryfields".
It is also recorded that the Vikings came up the River Lea to Ware and were only stopped by a weir that they couldn't get passed and the name of Ware is a derivative of Weir.
The Blip shows the heading towards Hertford with the Saracens Head pub on the left it was taken from a bridge leading into Ware that at one time had a toll on it.
Thank you everyone for you comments and Fav's I'm sorry I have not time at present to respond.
