Japanese reader

My son has given me the first book in a Japanese reader series for young children in Japan.  I will still need to look up a lot in my Japanese dictionary.  I had bought him the set (as requested) for his birthday, but he has realised they are below his level by quite a long way!  It’s scary how very difficult Japanese is….

I have to read the book from the back and the kana go from top to bottom and right to left, so unintuitive for me at the moment!
