Peat Lane’s Partner

It rained overnight so we reversed our day this morning and headed out with Little Dog for a circuit of our local reservoir, Burnhope. It didn’t disappoint, with lots of bird life including a whole battalion of goslings and a woodpecker nest right next to the track.

The weather looked brighter and brighter so we each headed out to do a short circuit up Peat Hill and Middlehope Bank - a couple of little toughies! We reversed some of yesterday’s route (I’m standing at the top of yesterday’s zig zag here) so it was interesting to piece together the landscape from a different angle.

After some good fuel and now with the sun shining, we had a small tour in the car for a wildlife watch. We sat at the top of our first day’s hill for a while with the windows open listening to birds calling across the moorside full bog cotton. A hare and a trip down memory lane on part of the C2C route and we returned home for feet up and Springwatch.
