Bateleur Eagle
An eagle rescued by an bird charity. This group had birds of prey available for children and centurions to hold. It was busy, busy day at the Falkirk Wheel with so many things outside for children to do (hint:bring a towel and perhaps at least dry socks for them as a lot of it is realistic waterways/hydraulic science based play) and of course the fantastic spectacle of the boatlift itself -I still get amazed every time I visit. Today there was a super troop of Roman centurions who spent their time marching, following Latin orders and posing for pictures. Those zorby inflated ball things containing a kid were also on the go. A fair number of deadly tables around with leaflets and pencils etc as bait and enthusiasts waiting to pounce. Anyhow, if you can go to The Wheel and you haven't yet been, just go: it's great for all ages. The scones are tasty too.
