A Simple Story

No, no,
you really don't want to listen
to my story do you?

Not the true one.
I'd be much happier making it up.

And keeping it simple.

There might be a little interlude,
a sort of middle eight,
where I contemplate the fact
that love can turn to hate
(Might that be something
to which some of you can relate?)

but I'd prefer to keep it upbeat.
And have a happy ending.

Which it has. Truly.

In fact, here's the plot:
once it was complicated,
now it's not.
