Nokonoshima

One of our friends has to leave Japan early, so today we visited Nokonoshima together, a small island in the bay of Fukuoka. It was exciting to get the ferry (all ten cold minutes of it!) over, quite a summer holiday feel. We got the bus up to the island park, and after a quick tempura sweet potato and a freshly squeezed local mikan (orange) juice, we took a jaunt around the flowers. Each season brings a riot of different colours to the island: whole fields contrasting beautifully against the sea.
