Dr Death
Number 11 in my series The Regulars. At long last, I have blipped Dr Death.
That's him on the left.
I was genuinely worried that the good Doctor had changed his routine and that my chance to blip him had gone. Not so. It was good to see him again. As with all the other individuals in this series, I know nothing about the Doctor other than that which I have observed in my numerous passing encounters over the weeks, months and years. So what have I concluded from my observations?
He is a Doctor. More specifically, a General Practicioner. A couple of things lead me to this conclusion.
First, his attire. Today he is wearing a suit. Sometimes he is more "smart casual" - jacket and tie. Either way, he clearly takes care to ensure that he looks smart and respectable, but not intimidating or arrogant. That's how doctors dress.
Second, his face. I am not in any way a believer in the practice of physiognomy but, in common, I expect, with most people, I do tend to draw conclusions about an individual's personality based on their features and expression. The good Doctor has what I perceive to be a benevolent face. A respectable face. A face which seems to indicate an inner kindness. A face which belongs to a man who has certainly experienced his share of difficulties, but who has come through them with strength and dignity. He has the countenance of a man to whom the Hippocratic Oath used to mean everything and still means something.
So where does Death come into it? Just look at those eyes. There's something in the eyes. Something perhaps just a little disquieting. There's also a feeling about him. A vibe. I do actually have a little, albeit tangential, connection with a real life serial killer. Well, almost. The Safeway Poisoner used to be an acquaintance of mine, a close enough acquaintance for me to count him as a friend for a while. Our acquaintanceship came to an end some time before the unfortunate incident involving the supermarket, so I watched the drama unfold from afar, but I had always thought that there was a certain vibe about him. I get a similar vibe from Dr Death.
(A slight digression: having introduced the Safeway Poisoner, I should make it clear that he didn't actually kill anyone, though he was convicted of trying. And I can confirm that he did make a damn fine gin & tonic - at least, when he wasn't putting atropine in it.)
Back to Dr Death. Mark my words, he will be appearing in the newspapers sometime. Maybe not this year; maybe not for a few years; but one day you will see him and you will remember that I blipped him.
[Big disclaimer. I am fully aware that some of my aforementioned comments could potentially be construed as being defamatory. I must stress that they are entirely the fictional product of my twisted imagination and are not intended to represent my opinion on any real person, living or dead. Please don't throw me in jail.]
