Portomarín to Palas de Rei day 31
Setting off very late, by Camino standards, worked well today and I had several long stretches more or less to myself. The early coffee stops were very busy, however around 12km I found this idyllic spot with a cheery owner, good coffee and excellent croissants.
After coffee I walked with a woman from Tasmania who confirmed that it was indeed possible Tasmanian Tigers still inhabited the wilderness area in north west Tasmania. There have been a number of unconfirmed sightings over the past few years, the animal having being designated extinct in 1982.
As is the custom on the Camino I left C after a couple of kilometres and quickened my pace, it was a cloudy day just perfect for walking. I was delighted to see my closest Camino pals having lunch in Portos, I joined them and we walked the last 8k or so together into Palas de Rei. An unremarkable sort of place, no where to eat until very much later. I think most pilgrims like me had a supermarket supper.
My last very long walk tomorrow and then two shorter stretches before I reach Santiago on Tuesday.
