Afternoon tea and a poorly hedgehog

An afternoon of two extremes.

Afternoon tea at the Little Shed with Val and Lu.

L noticed a hedgehog at the bottom of our road (we think it was the one in our garden yesterday). Initially we thought it was dead but noticed a slight movement, offered it some wet dog food and water and thankfully it ate and drank a little.

Phoned a local hedgehog rescue, a lovely lady asked loads of questions about his condition. She asked if we could take him in as he sounded very poorly and certainly shouldn’t be out in the day.

She examined him and thought he was likely to have been poisoned, very underweight and dehydrated. She confirmed it was a male and relieved that we didn’t have to worry about any abandoned hoglets.

She’s going to phone later to let us know if he survives. What an amazing lady, a true angel.

Now to find which neighbour has been using slug pellets!!
