Totally obsessed with sw. william

Must be the saturation. No, on a more informational note. I was sat in my wheel chair bathed in glorious early evening sunlight, thinking its too bright to be shooting wide open with  a 50mm lens surely. 
What are settings for if not to be tweaked. I shoot in manual mode most of the time any way.
I wanted to shoot a wee snail on a red opium poppy but i would need to stand up. No chance of that happening any time soon.
