New Mills

Today's walk with C, P & S took us down to the Peak Forest Canal, with an easy walk along the towpath through New Mills & Whaley Bridge. After pausing for coffee & sandwiches we returned to base over rather more undulating paths.

The main image shows the New Mills Marina with the Swizzels factory, including its well-known chimney, in the background. We'd smelled the sweet (& slightly sickly - think Lovehearts, if you know what they are!) scent coming from the factory before we realised what it was producing.

The extra is just a valley below us as we ascended towards the moor on the way back. The sun had partially broken through again & the view of the valley seemed to encapsulate the scenery around here.
