Education
The earnest entry to a school in Battersea. It was the Sir Walter St John Grammar school founded in 1700 to teach 20 poor boys of the parish. We can tell what formed a large part of the curriculum. It remained open till 1986 and in 1990 was bought by Thomas's London day school to run as a primary school - Thomas's Battersea.
There is still an educational charity in the name of Sir Walter St John
