Lunch spot
North of Newbury landing, I found a new backwater the beavers have helped to create. Great view of Mount Moosilauke and Black Mountain too.
This was my lunch spot because the beaches in this section of the river are not as good as other years. They come and they go, reform in other places as sand is moved around by the flow...its all about the flow.
On one beach a huge silver maple toppled over and left a bird's nest right at eye level. Photo in the extra. Held in place, miraculously by grape vines, the bird was on the nest when I came back by 6 hours later. I believe it is an Eastern Kingbird.
