From Vienna, With Love

Hard to decide on a blip for this day - was a toss up between this one, Maddie standing by a beautiful arched walkway and one of a group of horses, all lined up to take tourists about town. This one just about won out...

So this is Maddie writing a postcard to her parents, having just been to see the morning training of the Spanish Riding School. We sat in a cafe with its (seemingly compulsory) moody waitress and ate sachertorte and drank coffee in the sunshine. Like a lot of very touristy things I found the sachertorte overrated, but the coffee and sunshine were nice!

After this we wandered around most of the old town and then (kinda accidentally) took a tram towards the canal, where we sat and ate lunch, before strolling along, taking pictures of the graffiti. In the afternoon we went to the Belvedere Palace, where we wandered around the main gallery to see some Klimt and Schiele paintings.

Rounded up the day with a glass or two of wine in the museum's quarter with Elle and Kaycee, who we met at the hostel. I then headed home early feeling all bunged up and sorry for myself!
