Mindelburg
Lovely day & quite busy but had to dash off to Mindelheim late afternoon to hand in the witness statements for the beaver dam demolition along with a USB stick full of photos & videos.
Stopped off at the Mindelburg castle overlooking the town & did a quick 10-minute tour again, this time finding the probable reason Mindelheim is twinned with East Grinstead in England. The castle was used from 1945 to treat victims of facial injuries requiring reconstructive plastic surgery after WWII # a plaque to commemorate this is shown as an extra photo. Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead has a long & distinguished history of this.
The other extra photo shows the history of the castle but does not mention it was owned from 1705 to1714 by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, who was given it as thanks for some battles in the War of Spanish Succession. Nor does it mention visiting it with fellow Bliper Purbeck David49 in 2009
