Keeping Watch

The magpie is a significant animal for the local Peramangk mob. It’s hard not to feel like they are watching over us sometimes; looking after country, looking after the people in it, even the Johnny-Come-Latelys like me. I won’t pretend that I recognise individual birds, but there are nearly always one or two that come and hang out whenever we are outside. We call them “the elders”. This one came and stayed a while.
