Lindisfarne sunset
To a mid-afternoon concert by the Solem Quartet. They were fabulous, and I especially enjoyed the first of the three pieces they played - A Prayer at the Edge of Silence by David Roche. Relieved that it was the last of the summer concerts in the church this year, so we won’t have to endure the discomfort of the pews again for a while!
Home for a bite to eat before MrM drove us across to Lindisfarne for an evening walk. We parked at the Snook and walked through the dunes and across the vast expanse of sand to the sea, being sand-blasted along the way. Then across the rocks and through the dunes around the north of the island, looking down at interesting rock formations and sandy coves. There were seals on some of the rocky outcrops, and we listed to their eerie cries as we walked. Finally, down to the road and back to the van along the track on the edge of the salt marsh. We didn’t seem to walk very far with the wind behind us, but it seemed a very long way back! Coffee and cookies in the van watching the almost-full moon rising over Lindisfarne village.
On the way home MrM stopped the van on the causeway for a couple of shots of the sun going down.
