Inside an artist studio

It’s always a pleasure to go around artist studios.
 
So, for this year’s  Artbeat- Open Studios I have restricted my own openings to the weekends.
 
Today I popped over to Kippen to meet Mary Mackay who exhibits regularly in Edinburgh. Mary is a former biology and science teacher who graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2014, another example of someone carving out a completely different and very successful career later in life.
 
Her big abstract paintings are inspired by the countryside around her and smaller pieces reflect her interest in biology and botany.
