In My Life

Anticipation...

For the red-half of Manchester there could be a party on the cards tonight. The street sellers on Sir Matt Busby Way are already cashing in on what appears to be a nailed-on, record 20th Premier League title for Manchester United. Of course it's not over till the fat lady sings but the overture has surely started. Victory tonight over Aston Villa will see the Old Trafford favourites lift the trophy and relinquish Manchester City's year-long ownership of it. These are exciting times for football in Manchester with the two footballing neighbours slugging it out for top honours. This morning when I popped over to 'The Theatre of Dreams' the souvenir trade was brisk both on the streets and inside the club's Megastore - some 10 hours before tonight's kick-off. In fairness, business is good most days; United's ground and museum tour is the most popular destination for sports tourists according to VisitBritain. So for now the celebrations are on hold but expect a noisy night if the result goes in the favour of the home side.
