Literary Edinburgh

Today Mariclaire and I went to the visitors' centre at the University of Edinburgh to pick up the City of Literature's medal from UNESCO. It had been on display there as part of last year's 'City of Words' exhibition.

There were these lovely displays with quotes about Edinburgh from several Scottish writers as well as this one. It is a stack of books with the names of writers who are graduates or writing fellows of the university. I learned that J.M. Barrie and Alexander McCall Smith are graduates, which I didn't know before.

I'm just amazed at the literary heritage that this university holds. Edinburgh impresses me more and more every day.
