Rambling rose
A simpler day after the glamour of yesterday. I was so tired when I got home that I could only produce a few words for blip but am now able to add a little more. It was such a colourful pageant that Britain does so well. The marching of the soldiers, the brightness and spectacle of the Household Guards, the majestic sound of the organ in the Chapel, the fanfare of the trumpets and later the pealing of the bells. The crowd looked happy and some folk brought picnics and camping chairs as they were allowed to sit on the grassy banks to watch the procession. It was nice to dress up and find a hat for such an occasion when I’m usually in jeans, t -shirt and gardening gloves. P found his suit which he hadn’t worn for years and was pleasantly surprised that he could still fit into it.
We’re back to our normal life today and my photo shows a rambling rose which has clambered through our large bay tree/bush. This bay was bought years and years ago as a tiny two leaf plant in one of the miniature pots - I think it cost about 50p. I kept potting it on and on and finally planted it out although it’s really not in the right place but definitely too late to move it now. Every year I try to take cuttings but am never successful. I’ve tried hard wood cuttings and soft wood cuttings, I have watched u tube videos, read books, checked on Google and done everything that I’ve been told but still can’t succeed. Any ideas?
