Gill or Beck?

We bought a book of walks in Keswick this morning and followed one this afternoon.
The path soon disappeared and it was clear the forest paths had changed a lot since it was published. A look at the fly leaf showed it was published in 1997 and reprinted but not revised.
I don’t think we will be following any other walks unless the route is clearly marked on the OS map.
