Butterfly hunt
On a butterfly hunt in Hyde Park guided by experts. The thing about butterflies is that they won’t sit still when you want them to. May showed us how to net them and put them in little plastic boxes to look at them. They were very quickly released to flit on their way.
What was also fascinating was how many other insects were caught in the nets when we were near patches of nettles. They are a bountiful source of nutrition for so many invertebrates.
Cycling home along the canal towpath I screeched to a halt to snap this chap sanding his boat. See extra. He gave me a pose but refused to carry on sanding for me. I want all that dust with the sun coming through, I explained. But he wasn’t going to co operate.
A fun day..
