A Quiet, Peaceful Day
We decided to get a bit of exercise since the weather was going to be better today. We set no alarm, got up, ate breakfast and headed out around 9:00. We decided to go to Yorktown, a quaint village on the York River not far from Williamsburg. We moseyed along the beach path, watching sunbathers, kids enjoying the water and a few folks walking dogs. It was generally quiet and enjoyable. I was impressed with the folks working to keep the town clean and decorated with lovely flowers. The architecture and color scheme is similar to that of Williamsburg; I like it. I had Father’s Day and birthday cards to mail so we located and walked to the post office. The street was rather steep; we caught the trolley to give my lungs a needed rest. It took us around some historical sites and dropped us back by the river walk. It was too early for lunch so we decided to visit Glouster on the other side of the river. Hubby remembered a neat little homemade ice cream shop we’d stopped at years ago; that became our next destination. I remembered their lemon ice cream was so refreshing. This time, we tried orange dream and it was equally as good. I grabbed Italian bread to go with the baked ziti dinner our DIL is preparing tomorrow. Also grabbed what I needed to make chef salads for tonight. We went back to our suite and chilled. As many of you have commented, we lead very busy lives. This carefree week is just what we needed. Hoping you can be just as relaxed. Thanks for the visit. Stay safe. “When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing - just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?” - Ralph Marston
