Thanksgiving
After a morning of emails and minute writing I attended a thanksgiving service for a long-standing member at church. He died aged 92 during the pandemic lockdown and this was an opportunity to mark his life. He had, I believe , been an elder at our church for 63 years: Treasurer for 30.
He had always been around, briefcase in hand and was known for his kindness and generosity. And clear opinions. He had been very helpful to my wife and me with some financial advice when we got married.
His wife passed away some 35 years ago and it was only when talking to her relatives that I learned that she had helped initiate this tapestry of life in our church which has been hanging for as long as I remember.
So lots of thanks expressed today.
