Durham

Set off early this morning and arrived in Durham around lunch time. Its a lovely city with little nooks and cranys to explore. There were street entertainers on the bridge, one guy playing the bagpipes and another dressed as Charlie Chaplin. We went in search of the Old Elm pub for lunch which had been recommended, on the way up the hill in search of the pub where there was a homeless old drunk having a swigg of god alone knows what out of a bottle badly concealed in a carrier bag. My sister asked the guy if we were going in the right direction to find the above mentioned ale house. Guy replied by informing us "He didnt work on a Saturday" which I found hilarious.
Spent the night in a Holiday Inn hotel, it was clean and served a purpose. Food wasnt brilliant and they also charge £2.95 for 1 hour on the internet. OUTRAGEOUS!!!
Off to Holy Island tomorrow or Lindisfarne as it is actually called.
