Red Kite

Day #13 of #30dayswild. The garden is now full of baby birds who have been introduced to the sunflower feeders by their parents, undoubtedly relieved that they no longer have to provide them with sustenance! Really good to see a family of juvenile Greenfinch today, as well as the usual very cute baby Blue Tits.

In the evening I led a very well attended walk round Castor Flood Meadows SSSI. Before everyone arrived I watched a Red Kite gathering material from a freshly cut food. I thought it was after food but it appears to have carried off plant material, possibly to improve its nest.
