Mary Anning Statue

We took a picnic to Lyme Regis and ate it by the beach huts on Monmouth Beach . P was hoping to avoid the pollen giving him hay fever . Lyme was heaving with people but it was all really jolly as if it was the Summer Holiday . 

I wanted to see the recently unveiled statue of Mary Anning - it didn’t disappoint . Prof. Alice Roberts had unveiled it in May .Denise Dutton, the artist had made a superb sculpture, with lots of detail and texture- the little dog, button boots and knitted shawl ! http://www.insidedorset.co.uk/new-mary-anning-statue-for-lyme-regis/

We then visited Abbotsbury sub- tropical gardens where their were lots more photo opportunities on such a gorgeous day.

 .The cool of the trees was welcome and it was bliss sitting on the veranda of the cafe . 

We even braved the Burma Rope Bridge !
