Ants and peonies

I panicked this year when I saw many peony blooms in my garden, but also many ants crawling over them. I googled it before taking action and was delighted to find they have a mutualistic relationship. Apparently the peonies provide food for the ants and the ants protect the peonies from other floral feeding insects. Fabulous display of peonies this year, they have clearly liked the weather better than my alliums!
