Poppies revisited

We decided against going to Norfolk today - Gavin has got much work to do, I had to go take down my exhibition prints today, and the weather there was not looking good. Besides tomorrow for Father's Day the boys have arranged to play golf with Gavin so it was decided to stay put at home. We are not sure when we will get there again as we have a series of busy weekends coming up, which often happens in the summer with all the summer functions.

Today was hot and sunny, and so I decided to re-visit the poppies to show Gavin how lovely they are. The sunshine faded so while it was still very warm it was hazy with softer light and therefore better conditions for photographing the poppies. We saw the poppies and then set about trying to find the sandstone soldiers known as The Regiment of Trees. There are no signs but by asking other walkers that we met, we eventually found them - photo in extras. It is quite a poignant sight to see the statues of soldiers standing in the open field as they would have done for the inspection by Lord Kitchener.

After lunch while Gavin worked I went to take down my exhibition prints. I think it was a successful exhibition as we got some very positive feedback.

Luke and Adam are arriving shortly to spend the night, as they will be teeing off early tomorrow morning to play golf with Gavin to celebrate Father's Day. All three boys were at a May Ball function last night in Cambridge and they had a lovely time and enjoyed catching up with each other, as due to their busy lives they don't meet up as often as they would like to. Tommy is not coming to Father's Day golf as he has more garden parties and May Ball functions tomorrow.

I have also been trying to check and finalise the details for Tommy's 21st party which takes place at home in 3 weeks time. It has been challenging at times trying to arrange things when he is not here to discuss things.
