A way home

Thoroughly enjoyed this play which is touring around local theatres and community centres in County Durham.
It's set in 1951 and tells the story of the pit villages that were categorised as "D", meaning no money was to be invested into them and they were to be left to die. A third of villages in County Durham were on the list! Villagers were expected to move to areas that were being newly developed. A moving story bringing local history back to life!
Incidentally, they chose some of the actual villages or places adjacent to them, to perform the play.
