West Braes Shelter

This shelter in Pittenweem overlooks the Firth of Forth. Walkers can have a seat, shelter from the wind, and enjoy the view of the Bass Rock, Berwick Law, and watch the cormorants, shags, gannets, herons, etc that crowd onto the small island just off the shore. Most days there are seals too, and several times a week dolphins can be spotted. Over the last week an artist has been painting murals on the sides of the shelter. It’s a work in progress, but it’s looking great so far.
Although I let Hannah stay up late last night she decided 6.15 am was a good time to get up today. To me that’s the middle of the night, but what can you do when this happy soul is bursting to start her day. So we were out with the dogs so early the only people we met on the coastal path were runners.
The day since has been a busy one. Some weeding, watering and potting-up was done. Had a visit from Janice who is finalising the arrangements for her sister’s wake, two years after her sister passed away, because Covid regulations didn’t allow for wakes after funerals then. It’s tough.
