I could almost be at home
This is quite similar to the view I have out of my bedroom window at home, but it is somewhere in the Belgian countryside, literally, in a farmhouse in a little town called Zemst , halfway between Antwerp and Brussels. The reason for our journey to Belgium was to compete in a curling competition near to the larger town of Mechelen. We waited around the railway station in Mechelen to meet up with the third member of our team who had arrived by plane and train from Scotland. After a brief lunch we made our way to the curling hall to meet up with our fourth team member, a Belgian player who was subbing for one of our friends who had called off at the last minute. Gary was Belgian, Irish, American and goodness knows what else and a very amicable fellow. We had practice ice at the rink before three of us headed off for a late dinner and a much needed sleep. Although we had driven a relatively short distance, four hours from Rotterdam to our BnB, it was a bit stressful for J driving on the wrong side of the road in our own car. The extra is a view of the swimming pool and the fitness suite from our room window.
