Weka (Gallirallus australis) or Wood Hen.

This Wood hen, as we commonly call them, upset my plans about a blip about the timber milling in the Sounds, and the ballast heaps left from the old scrows that came to collect the timber. I was down on the beach taking photoes of these ballast heaps (as the tide was out) then I saw this Weka (Wood Hen)
So this is it.
