Standing by
Had me a mosey around Hanging Rock this afternoon, after changing my books at the public library up the road. Behind me is the Batemans Bay Marine Rescue base and lookout, and here is its vessel at the jetty at the breakwall, ready to go at a moment's notice.
The pink sky in the background is not a sunset, but the result of one of a number of hazard reduction burns being carried out in the bush in Eurobodalla Shire and three adjoining shires, while the weather is suitable.
By the way, the books I chose at the library today were an old Tom Sharpe I had missed, "The Gropes", and "The Forgotten Affairs of Youth", by the excellent Alexander McCall Smith, who writes books faster than I can read them. I particularly like his Isabel Dalhousie series because it is set in part in the Bruntsfield district of Edinburgh, close to where I once lived.
