Bring it on!
On February 9th this year I blipped a photo of the truck that contains my kitchen dining room and bathroom. In that blip I commented that I intend to get a new cabin to replace the truck when I have access to a large chunk of retirement money after my 65th birthday. In the meantime the truck is carefully looked after to prevent it falling to pieces.
Some of my nearest and dearest decided I couldn’t wait until 2026. On Monday they made me an offer that I couldn’t believe: an immediate interest-free loan which I repay when my funds are released in 4.5 years’ time.
Such amazing generosity left me speechless and in tears. It took me almost 24 hours to come back down to earth and think straight (ish). I have been happily catapulted into getting to grips with doing something I thought I had years to work out.
First was to decide the best location for the new kitchen etc. It definitely needs to be sunny. After quite a bit of a swithering I realised the perfect place is to the right of the bedroom cabin, just beyond the firepit in the blip. The front will face towards the camera, with a windowed right-hand end where my dining table will sit.
Things will start to happen once a few details about the loan are discussed and we’ve drawn up a legal agreement. That’s a good thing: I’m still reeling slightly.
I’ve spent the day repeatedly thinking “this is the last winter I’ll have to do such and such in the sun-less, chilly truck”. It’s taking some getting used to.
And while you may not be able to tell, I’m incredibly excited.
Bean is taking it all in her stride. Or in her sleep, to be more accurate.
Woohoo!
