Wild Deserted Blaskets

What a magical wild beautiful place. The Blasket islands once sustained a thriving community but since 1953 when the final families were evacuated only a few houses remain standing with the majority now just stone shells. It was an exhilarating boat ride to the island in gorgeous bright weather - we could not believe our luck. The random conversations have made this holiday so special and today we chatted to 80 year old Eddy who is the last boat builder of the currachs a particular kind of rowing boat used by the islanders and today we saw one action filmed by a TV crew.
