L'Église Penchée

The leaning church. And no, my photograph is perfectly straight; it is the church that is at an angle! Think Tower of Pisa but in France; and as you can see from the fencing etc. around it, they are trying to stop it leaning more. It is also known as L'Église Saint-Jean, to give it its proper name, and I can only apologise for the strange light/ISO combination...I was lacking in a tripod with nowhere to steady the camera!

Today was an interesting day, spent at the apartment but Skyping my friends and family. I was there rather than at home as my internet is being rather temperamental at the moment so arrived to use and abuse other people's! Now I thought if I went to Thibaud's room rather than downstairs to Skype Hugo I would get some peace and quiet...turns out it would become party room, with Hugo being treated to Thomas and Thibaud trying every trick in the book to distract me while I was trying to talk to him. Was hilarious rather than annoying I have to admit! After an hour or so, and after hearing a rather amusing tale about how Hugo nearly sat on a tramp, I had to leave Hugo to talk to my parents. Now the boys decided to behave themselves while I was on Skype to my parents...I wonder why? I'm getting very excited to be able to see them soon, although at the same time I know when they arrive my time in Caen is nearly over, so I'm both dreading and really looking forward to it!

My evening was spent at Au Bureau with Julien, as I still try and fathom what the best cuisson to ask for is...as in France most things come out practically mooing, but go too far the other way and the chefs will cook the thing to oblivion. The problem is that different restaurants have different ideas about how something should be cooked, and then they work round that. One thing I wish to master before I leave France! Anyhows, lovely evening, lovely conversation, lovely company...I'm a lucky girl!

Words learnt today:-
- Streetlamp - réverbère (possibly the hardest word to say for an English person in the French language!)
- Headphones - casque or écouteurs
- Hill - colline
