Minus 4 degrees

This was the temperature in the city at 8 am when I took this photo. Christchurch suffers from temperature inversion layers as cold air falls down from the hills and traps smoke from home fires. In the centre of the photo there are two white lines which appear flat as the smoke cannot escape upwards. We are very lucky living on the hills. It was still very cold at 3 degrees but 7 degrees warmer than the flat.
